2012 Summary

The Friends of South Park, the County Park viewed 2012 as a successful year by totaling 1,096 hours of volunteer service. 

In addition to volunteer time, the friends hosted three successful fundraising events, which included a golf outing in May, a flea market in September, and a wine tasting event in October.

Fundraising events yielded a combined total of $ 8,735.

The Friends also sponsored a Spring and Fall Park Cleanup Day and launched a solar lighting project for the illumination of Corrigan Drive by gathering sponsors. 

This summer, the Friends plan to rebuild the fitness trail along McConkey Road.

County Executive Rich Fitzgerald has visited the Friends twice to discuss improvements to South Park, specifically to the South Park Fairgrounds Oval Project.
